2015 - Parco Regionale Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli

In 2015, in addition to collaborating with the CNIT at the Research Unit of the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Pisa, Natech signed an agreement with the nearby Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Regional Park for trials in a controlled environment. The Park was chosen for its proximity to the Department but especially for the numbers of ungulate present which were considered suitable for trials by the research team made up of CNIT engineers, veterinarians, bioacoustic experts and faunists. The agreements involved the construction of a trial site in a remote part of the Park where the devices, cameras and equipment necessary for remotely controlling the research activity were positioned.

2015 - Barone Ricasoli

After about two years of research in the laboratory and trials carried out in a controlled environment, the field trial, sponsored by the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium, was launched in March 2015 at the Barone Ricasoli vineyard in two areas of the estate called Agresto and Agrestino, growing Sangiovese grapes, which, in recent years, have been vigorously targeted by roe deer. The trial, which lasted two months, produced excellent results in terms of both effectiveness (significantly reducing the grazing done by the roe deer) and reliability of the electronic components. In addition, the protection afforded against wild boar from August to October was a significant defence of the wine production.

2016 - Barone Ricasoli - Marchesi de' Frescobaldi

Other trials were carried out in 2016 at the Barone Ricasoli company in an area called Monacilia where a new Sangiovese grape installation was protected very effectively against roe deer and later, from August to October, a front of about 80 metres of the Fattoio vineyard was protected against wild boar.

Also in 2016, at the Marchesi dè Frescobaldi vineyard in San Donato in Perano, white malvasia grapes covering 0.3862 hectares were protected against roe deer and from August to October the same area was protected against wild boar which resulted in a production increase of 1,100 kg, going from the 200 kg harvested in previous years to 1,300 kg in 2016.

2017 - Various Sites

In August-September 2017, given the success of the trials carried out in previous years, a decision was taken to widen trials to open fields at prestigious vineyards in the Sienese and Florentine Chianti area (Barone Ricasoli, Marchesi dè Frescobaldi, Castello di Albola, Castello di Ama, Castello del Trebbio, Agricola San Felice). The trials examined different types of protection: passages, road fronts and entire vineyards; protecting in total: 6 road crossings 2,790 linear metres of street front 5.2 hectares of vineyards and green areas The results obtained were verified continually during the trial periods both by the managers of the vineyards and by Natech personnel. Both parties agreed on the optimum protection provided. Based on this positive feedback, Natech began marketing its Basic and Plus devices in May 2018.

2018 - Regione Emilia Romagna - ISPRA

The testing phase was carried out within the service for the identification of useful solutions to reduce the frequency of road collisions, due to the crossing of wild ungulates, entrusted by Regione Emilia Romagna to Studio Geco , Arceto (RE), and in part, subsequentely, on the basis of agreements made between Studio Geco, ISPRA (Advanced Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), as a scientific supervisor and Natech. The activity was carried out in the period September 20th – October 19th 2018 and November 13th – December 14th 2018 between provinces of Reggio Emilia and Modena.
